Class 7 – goods vehicles over 3000kg up to 3500kg DGW

There are several vehicles which may ot be under the Class you think. These are usually PickUp vehicles for example a Nissan Navara is a Class 4 but a Dodge Ram is a Class 7.

If unsure then please feel free to call us and ask.

Yes, one thing is nearly always overlooked … If you bring your vehicle with anything blocking the wiping swept area of your windscreen then we will have to remove these during the test otherwise your vehicle would fail. Items such as Air Fresheners dangling from the Interior Mirror are the most common but other things such as Parking Permits and Phone Holders if in the swept area are technically a failure unless we remove them , so please bear this in mind, it is often overlooked and vital for the drivers to have a clear view of the road.

Yes the spare tyre is checked it your vehicle is presented with one, this is not a failure item though, it is only an ADVISORY item.

No, your MOT retest is FREE – providing we retest the vehicle within 14 days from date of the initial test.

Some companies may charge you for a retest but with TITAN, it is FREE.

After the MOT system went completely online several years ago, you could argue, what is the point of a paper certificate now ?

Well the paper certificate is not really of any use anymore as you can check online now as you can check so much more about what information is held about your vehicle.

On the other hand though, there are still some people out there who are either not good or chosen not to be on the internet and for that reason, the certificate is still produced.

99% of the people still actually prefer to have a paper certificate anyway.

There are quite a few reasons an MOT station can refuse to test your vehicle, here are some of the most common:

1…Vehicle extremely dirty on the outside – example a LandRover that has been on an Off-Road Adventure and is covered in mud.

2…A vehicle that has something breakable inside such as pottery, glassware etc as the vehicle can have slightly abnormal movement on the brake rollers and the suspension shakers and this could lead to damage of your property which the MOT station could be liable for, so always remove anything fragile before the test.

3…The MOT examiner is meant to make sure your vehicle has oil and is not going to seize up in the station so he needs to check under the bonnet and if you cannot get under the bonnet then this is a ‘Reason For Refusal’.

4…The examiner should question you about the Timing Belt history of your vehicle where necessary and if he/she thinks the belt could break whilst on test then they again can refuse to test.

5…At least one of your VIN numbers must be visible so if you have parking tickets down the front of your windscreen hiding the VIN number then you must make sure they are removed as this could be a ‘Reason For Refusal’.

6…FUEL – there must be enough fuel in the vehicle to safely perform the tests on the brake rollers and the exhaust emissions and also the several on-ramp checks necessary with engine running.

In general there are many more reasons so please follow the basics and make sure your car is in a clean and presentable condition, there is enough Fuel to perform the emissions test and the small on-ramp checks, make sure you have the correct oil in the car, fill up your screenwash bottle as i have lost count of the times vehicles have had a fail just because there is no water in the bottle and most importantly make sure there is nothing that can injure the examiner, if you are not sure then tell them anyway.

The MOT station testing your car is supposed to look after your vehicle and you are entitled to have your vehicle returned to you in the same condition after the MOT – specifically here, i mean the Interior, so don’t accept any stains or marks on your seats that were not there before.

The MOT station is supposed to take all precautions so as to not in any way soil or dirty your vehicle.

On the other hand though, you should also present your vehicle in the correct manner, it should be clean inside and out, have enough fuel to ensure easy completion of the emissions test.

There should be nothing breakable in the vehicle as the vehicle can  get jostled and rocked a little on the brake testing rollers and also on the suspension shakers which could break fragile things in the vehicle and therefore if you present your vehicle with any breakable inside or out then the MOT Tester could well refure to test your vehicle.
